You probably know (or have read about) someone who doesn’t need to question their motives. They have little need to weigh options or second-guess themselves. They don’t hesitate, the just act. Not because they’re impulsive, but because they’re aligned.
When you face a decision, just ask if it will move you closer to your stated ideal — the kind of person you want to be or principle you commit to follow. If you can do that, you’ll be less likely to waver or compromise your character in tough moments.
“My daddy always told me to just do the best you knew how and tell the truth. He said there was nothin to set a man’s mind at ease like wakin up in the morning and not havin to decide who you were. And if you done somethin wrong just stand up and say you done it and say you’re sorry and get on with it. Dont haul stuff around with you.”
~Cormac McCarthy, No Country for Old Men (Book)
